Biography
Lucas Harbour, Bassbaritone, is currently residing in Berlin, Germany where he is a Stipendiat at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He is also engaged for winter 2010 at the Teatro Regio of Torino, Italy. For Deutsche Oper Berlin he will be singing the roles of 2nd Geharnischter in Zauberflöte, Wächter in Strauss' Frau ohne Schatten, Graf Horn (Tom) in Verdi´s Maskenball, Steuermann in Wagner's Tristan, Benoit in La Bohème, Schließer (Jailer) in Tosca, Ein Mandarin in Turandot and Wotan in Klein-Sigfried. For Teatro Regio in Torino Lucas will sing Voce in Mozart's Idomeneo, Hobson in Britten's Peter Grimes and Reinmar von Zweter in Wagner's Tannhäuser. Lucas performed with The Santa Fe Opera in the summers of 2008 and 2009. In 2009 he created the role of the Judge in the world premier of The Letter by Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Moravec. At Santa Fe he has also performed the Commissioner in La Traviata, Gunner's Mate in Billy Budd, in addition to covering the roles of Dr. Grenville in Traviata, Masetto in Don Giovanni, Bartolo in Figaro and Tsargo in Kaija Saariaho's Adriana Mater. At Chicago Opera Theater he has covered Leporello in Don Giovanni and Spencer Coyle in Britten's Owen Wingrave. For Chicago's Millenium Players he has performed Collatinus in Britten's Rape of Lucretia and Marcello in La Bohème. He sang the Bass solo in Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Oak Park Symphony in Chicago. He has performed Tom in Verdi's Ballo with Opera Santa Barbara. He has performed Montano in Verdi's Otello with Des Moines Metro Opera as well as Sacramento Opera.
